The problem this replaces
Odoo fits about 80% of most businesses out of the box. The remaining 20% is where every ERP project's money goes, and there have historically been three ways to get it.
Odoo Studio. Drag and drop, no code. It's on the Custom plan only — around $61 per user per month at US renewal rates — so a 25-person business pays roughly $18,300 a year for a licence tier it may only want for Studio.
A developer. Every change is scoped, quoted, scheduled and invoiced. Individually reasonable, cumulatively the reason ERP budgets overrun. And the real damage isn't the invoices — it's that people stop asking. The change that would have saved the warehouse ten minutes a day doesn't get requested because it isn't worth a quote, and the system drifts out of fit with the business one un-made change at a time.
Nothing. You adapt to the software. Sometimes that's genuinely correct. Often it's a spreadsheet living beside the ERP forever.
Custom development is also the line item that makes implementation quotes unpredictable — configuration is bounded work, customisation isn't. How this works
Type what you want. "Add a delivery priority field to sales orders, show it on the list view, and flag anything over three days old."
The builder writes a real Odoo module and installs it on your test copy, not production. You open the test copy, use it, and decide. If it's right, it goes live. If it isn't, describe what's wrong and try again — the cost of a wrong attempt is a minute, not a change order.
The code is ordinary Odoo code. Standard module structure, readable Python and XML, the same patterns any Odoo developer would recognise. That matters for one specific reason: you're not locked in. A developer can take over any module the builder wrote, on any Odoo instance. If you leave, the modules leave with you and still work. A no-code tool that produces a proprietary blob you can only run inside the vendor's product is a different and worse deal, and it's worth checking which kind you're being sold.

The test copy is the point
Everything lands on a test copy first. Not as a nicety — as the mechanism that makes this safe.
An AI writing directly into a live ERP would be reckless. An AI writing into a copy of your ERP that you then inspect, use and approve is a normal software workflow with the review step preserved. You're doing what a developer would do: build, test, promote.
It also inverts who evaluates the change. Under the quote model, you approve a description of what will be built and find out on go-live whether it's what you meant. Here you approve the thing itself, having used it.
What this is not
The honest limits, because a builder page that claims no boundaries isn't credible:
- It's not a replacement for an architect on a complex build. Multi-entity consolidation with intercompany eliminations, a manufacturing routing engine with genuinely unusual constraints — describe those to a human first.
- It won't fix a bad process. Automating a workflow that shouldn't exist gets you there faster and no better off.
- It doesn't know your business. It knows Odoo. What the change should be is still your decision.
- Review still matters. It writes readable code so it can be reviewed. That's an invitation, not a formality — anything touching accounting or stock valuation deserves a look.
- It's not Odoo Studio. Studio is a visual editor with a specific feel. This is a different route to a similar destination, and if you've built your team's workflow around Studio's interface, that's a real reason to pay for Studio.

Is this an alternative to Odoo Studio?
It solves the same problem — customising Odoo without writing code — by a different route. Studio is a visual editor on the Enterprise Custom plan. This works on Community, is included in the hosting fee, and produces standard module code.
What code does it produce?
Ordinary Odoo modules — standard structure, readable Python and XML. Any Odoo developer can read, edit or take them over, and they work on any Odoo instance.
Does it write straight into my live system?
No. Everything goes to a test copy first. You review it there and promote it when you're satisfied.
What if the module it writes is wrong?

Am I locked in?
No. The modules are standard Odoo code and they're yours. If you leave, they leave with you and still work — as does your database, which you can download whenever you want.
What can't it do?
Complex architectural work — multi-entity consolidation, unusual manufacturing routings — is better designed with a person first. It also doesn't know your business processes; it knows Odoo.
Does it cost extra?
