Odoo 17 ChatGPT integration via XML-RPC.
ChatGPT can call MCP tools that hit Odoo 17’s XML-RPC API. There is no JSON-2. Odin’s in-Odoo module is not 17. Plan limits on ChatGPT still apply.

Odin MCP does not install on 17. Upgrade to 18/19 for the in-Odoo suite, or run a 17-capable proxy. Odoo MCP for Odoo 17.
Why 17 is a worse bot target
More databases still have XML-RPC on the public internet and leftover admin keys. Dedicated user, IP restriction, read-only. Security.
If 18 is available, Odoo 18 ChatGPT is the version where our module exists.
Do not use ChatGPT as the upgrade plan
A working ChatGPT read on 17 makes stakeholders less willing to upgrade. Time-box the experiment. Put the upgrade next to the MCP win in the same steering deck.
Keys: three-month habits still apply if you mint 17 API keys. Rotate. Do not use admin. Same as 19, older patch level.
Developer mode confusion
Pro developer mode is not the same as Business writes. On 17 that confusion is worse because you already have two stories (old API, no Odin module). Keep a one-pager: ChatGPT SKU, Odoo version, transport, user.
